Through demonstration of their responsibility, respectfulness and thoughtfulness, they will earn the trust of the faculty and their peers, and gain the opportunity to exercise increasing independence in their decisions, learning and day-to-day life.
They will have new, unexpected experiences, and have fun living away from home with other adventurous and curious young people.
They will make new friends from around the world.
They will experience and explore cultures that have persisted throughout history and better understand what makes them effective.
They will challenge themselves individually and a team, developing self-awareness and leadership skills.
Our project-based curriculum style will have them creating beautiful pieces of work that they can take pride in.
They will join in a variety of crafts skills workshops, led by expert craftsmen, including pottery, chocolate, woodwork, sushi and watercolour.
They will participate in daily yoga classes, and learn the techniques of meditation, helping them develop resilience, self-discipline, self awareness, and release natural endorphins.
They will learn to cook delicious, healthy meals for our large family group as part of daily activities.
They will experience the pleasure of living simply, away from modern distractions, in a close relationship with our beautiful local natural environment.
They will sing, act, read and play music in a culture of support and encouragement, and meet professional creative artists.
Through our weekly day-trips, they will get to explore the incredible culture, history and entertainment that the local area has to offer.
Choose a Programme
May/June/July: At the heart of the Arts and Crafts centre in the countryside, the world famous Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This programme offers a chance to MAKE things of equal beauty - wood turning, pottery, art, music, food, drinks from the best local produce and new friends! Daily ventures outdoors and into nature, as well as trips to Oxford, Bristol, and the home of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon.
July/August/September: Lakeside living in the Bernese Oberland. An opportunity to unwind with a book club and landscape art session, then participate in some summer mountains adventures such as some serious hiking, adrenaline adventures, Aare River Float, chocolate making and traditional fondue dinners. Visit the beautiful capital Bern, summit some peaks for glorious views and swim in refreshing waterfalls to cool off.
April/May/September: Take part in a spiritual pilgrimage to explore a culture that has lasted centuries. Through the expertise of third party local guides, explore the natural wonders, history, philosophy and architecture throughout the Kii Peninsula. Try your hand at Sushi making and even stay at a secluded, sacred mountaintop temple as some of the many highlights on offer in this Asian adventure.
October/November/December: An adventure that takes in the Mother City of Cape Town and all its treasures and treks, walks the Wild Coast, visits vineyards and reckons with recent history. Options to include workshops with local artisans, entrepreneurs and organisations to dig deeper into this extraordinary country. Dip your toes into this vast continent at its vibrant southern tip.
April/May/September/October: Get away to a secluded area on the west coast of Great Britain and learn to surf with daily lessons from a dedicated team. Perfect for a school class revision retreat to help focus, free students from FOMO and build healthy habits and secure successful study time. A schedule that incorporates exercise, hearty food, constructive free time and effective educator support is just what teenagers need to avoid stress of exams.
May/June/July/September/October: For those into wonders of Operation Overlord and the tales told in Stephen E. Ambrose’s book, a chance to follow the journey of Easy Company from the UK to Austria. Combining historical exploration and modern European local idiosyncrasies this trip will delve into the heroism of the past, enjoy the freedom across a continent that it enabled and explore coastlines, riverbanks, forests, countryside, mountains and lakes in six countries.
